Learning Social Media & Business Marketing | Sparkle & Shine

Mike Michalowicz: Recommended People To Help You Understand Your Sparkle

These days it seems like everyone is looking to learn more about social media > whether you?re in school, job hunting, looking for a competitive edge on your professional specialty or marketing your own startup, small business or enterprise organization, we ALL need to be making constant improvements on our ability to get more positive results from social media activities. We need to be able to (with less time, effort and cost) engage our contact lists and create a supportive community who willingly spreads word of mouth for the cause, organization or activity YOU are working on.

There is no end to the number of blog posts you can read, write or test about every theory on social media, marketing, sales and entrepreneurship; to the point where you could spend your whole life literally working on your business or goals and never get anywhere. The Trap, as Mike Michalowicz calls it, when you are running out of hours in the day working on your business, and over years you?re not actually GROWING your business, just slaving away at your dream. Yes, I am writing this blog post from personal experience!

Mike Michalowicz was one of the first entrepreneurs I started to follow in 2008 when I realized I was being thrown ass-first in self-employment, just as the economy started to falter and the populations of USA and Canada began to experience unprecedented and unbelievable financial reality-checks. I had started watching Suze Orman on CNBC earlier in the year to learn how to invest, not spend, my ad-agency salary and after being laid off I started watching more small business programming on CNBC while they were reporting on the troubles experienced by ?Main Street? (small businesses) and ?Wall Street? (financial organizations), I was still thinking I was on ?Madison Avenue? (ad agency, even if unemployment line).

I saw Mike appear on one of the shows on CNBC as a young entrepreneur talking about small businesses achieving successes and his book, The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. Of course, I immediately found Mike on Facebook and sent him a friend request, which he accepted. One day I saw an update that he posted about loving his life for being able to ride his bike to the office. It was a totally foreign concept to me and I could never forget it ? I also didn?t realize what an impact it would have on my mindset of being self-employed as I moved away from relying on a boss to give me a salary and towards being confident in my own abilities to design my own life and contribute real value to the businesses who invest in me in return.

Unlike most of the people selling programs about social media, Mike is a giver, and I think that?s a big part of his success > I was able to get great value from Mike?s videos, his book, his TV show interviews and his blog posts for years before I ever invested in any of his programs. And when I finally did buy his The First Million program, his own involvement in selling me the $1000+ program was next to nothing. When the time was right, and I had the money available, I just whipped out my credit card and bought it online > Mike had ?sold? me, ongoing, over the two years previously when he was a part of my daily life on my social networks, in articles and books I was reading.

Today is Mike?s birthday and as a gift to his audience, he is offering an updated version of his The First Million businesses program to only 50 people, beginning at noon. And the cost is significantly, insanely lower than what I paid! So I wanted to share this gem (Mike, and this awesome offer), with you before the chance is gone. Even if you only watch the video, you?ll be introduced to some of Mike?s best and most current content you can find online, for free.

I?m still consuming Mike?s content and somedays I feel stuck in ?The Trap? myself, so for my own birthday a few weeks ago, I gave myself the gift of buying his new book, The Pumpkin Plan. While over the years I haven?t followed his instructions directly (I probably would have more success if I had), I have appreciated his support while I explore my own path of balanced employment and slower business growth? and while I have seen significant changes in who I am, how I view self-employment and entrepreneurship and what I am achieving every month in my business, it?s not the type of Hockey-stick growth we all hope to achieve in business. So time for The Pumkin Plan!

Happy Birthday, Mike! Thank you for all the amazing business instructions and training you?ve shared with me in social media, your books, your videos and your interest in my life.
