Introduction to SaltCity CrossFit Nutritional Plan

Nutritional Plan

In the coming weeks, we will be releasing tips on a complete 30-day nutritional plan from SaltCity CrossFit. First, here?s an overview of what?s to come, courtesy of Grace McIntosh, SaltCity CrossFit?s Resident Nutritionist.

This nutritional plan is not meant to be a fad diet; it is intended to change your life. Thirty days is the commitment you need to make. Think of this as a short term nutritional reset, intended to restore a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive tract, calm inflammation, and put an end to unhealthy cravings, habits and relationships with food.

Do you find it impossible to lose weight no matter how hard you try? Are your energy levels up and down throughout the day? Do you have aches and pains that are unexplainable? Certain food groups such as sugar, grain, dairy and legumes are probably having a negative effect on your health and fitness without you even realizing it. In order to discover how these foods are affecting your body, we need to remove them and let the body heal.

So at this point you may be thinking, ?there is no way I am giving up pasta, oatmeal and bread!? I am not going to preach to you about all the positive effects you will see in your health and performance. I am just going to say commit to the full 30 days and see for yourself. 30 days, no cheats or slips, it can change your life. The upcoming blogs will give you a brief overview of the science behind the program and guidelines to follow.

So a little bit about myself. I just graduated from Ithaca College with my bachelors in Exercise Science and minor in Nutrition. I am currently attending Upstate Medical University working towards my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I have always had a passion for nutrition and have learned that good health and nutrition doesn?t have to be complicated. Two books that I recommend are ?The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet? by Robb Wolf and ?It Starts With Food? by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. Both of these books are a great source of information. Just remember, you can?t out train bad nutrition!

Stay tuned for our next post and we?ll get started right into tips for this nutritional plan! And if you?re looking for a Syracuse CrossFit facility, check us out!
